Fabien Giraud and Ida Soulard will discuss their forthcoming book and installation "Marfa Stratum", which explores the geologic history of the Permian Basin, sheaf theory (via Alexander Grothendieck), speculative realism (via Quentin Meillassoux) and catastrophe theory (via Rene Thom).  Whoa.  Behind Fabien's name above is a link to a recent talk he gave on the invention of the void (1665) and what it has meant to modernism.  Fabien is an artist, based in Paris, whose works have appeared at the Pompidou, Site Santa Fe, and many other locations.  Ida is a writer and scholar, based in Paris, where she works with activist and art writer Elisabeth Levobici. June 27th, 8 pm.
